We have hunted in the Peace River region in Alberta since 2005. The Peace River country is known worldwide as one of the premier destinations to hunt waterfowl. This is where birds are seeing hunters for the first time.
Grande Prairie is centrally located in our hunting areas. There is a major airport in Grande Prairie which makes traveling very nice.
The bag limits in Alberta are very liberal. We are allowed to shoot 8 ducks per person and 8 geese per person with a three day possession limit. The majority of the ducks we shoot are mallards and pintail. The majority of geese are Canadian honkers along with some specks and an occasional snow goose.
We hunt ducks and geese each day. Depending on their patterns it may be a duck or goose hunt in the morning the afternoon hunt would be for the other species. We often are able to hunt ducks and geese out of the same field which makes for a ton of entertainment.
We hunt a lot of pea fields for both ducks and geese out of laydown blinds or standup willow blinds. If the ducks aren't hitting the fields there are plenty of honey holes over water to choose from such as dugouts, ponds, sloughs and lakes.
